Greg Marindra’s Stories

         Jazz is one of my new fav genres of music; even this genre is older than my age. This music is so cozy and easy listening for me. Might me I heard this music from my father or my grandpa for the first time. I think this music only for old person, coz you can see the singer is as old as my grand or even more.

But now my winamp playlist is full of David Benoit, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra and many jazz singer. Not all of them from my grandpa age, there are also Jamie Cullum with his Mid Trick, Norah Jones, Michael Buble. They are representing from modern age.

Those are from western. From my country there many singer too. Tompi is very soulful singer. He is singer from Bali Lounge. If you want to hear his voice, you can download their song “Something Wrong”. I think, his voice is very jazzy. Maliq and the essential also. This band combine jazz and other musics, like disco, reggae. They so great and I like “Terdiam” hits from their first album. From their last album I like “Heaven”, you should check it.

                For you, if you want to refresh your mind, jazz will make it happen. Just for your info, I usually play jazz at night in my laptop, hearing Frank Sinatra with his “My Way” or Lois Armstrong’s hit “What a wonderful world”, with coffee or hot tea as friends. I can grab more idea and inspiration. You don’t believe!!!! Just try it

    Friday become very special day whan I was Internship Student. After worked for 5 day, finally we get holiday in weekend. Now Friday also become very special day also, because this week is tiring. This week I have 2 mid-semester test. This test should be held in October. Cos I haven’t arrived from my Internship Program, I should have it this week. Thank for nice lecturer who would like to hold the test even it’s not in scheduled time. And this Friday is last day, the subject is Digital Engineering.

I have a plan after finishing my test, I would like to go home immediately. I will spend my weekend in my hometown, Klaten. The distance from Yogyakarta to Klaten is about an hour. And as a commuter, I am used to. Hopefully this Friday, I can do my test well. and I could spend my weekend also Wish me luck dude..!!!!!

Finnaly..I’m back to home..

Finally after 3 months live in Freeport, doing my practical work as internship student.  I just want to a say…It is very (very) amazing…Can U imagine I can do my practical work in the biggest cooper and gold in the world.

But first impression when I stepped my foot in Papua where Freeport area located, It’s out of my imagination. When I arrived in airport, it’s not suitable with what the stewardess said. They said if we would land in Timika International Airport, but what u can see is look like hut in middle of jungle…agh….

After I took care my visitor card we had to use bus to Tembagapura. The bus was not like bus that we usually see in Yogya, it’s look like truck for the driver cabin and for the passenger maybe it’s made from container. And the duration from airport to Tembagapura is 2 hours. But the view it’s very beautiful!! In lowland I could see swamp and sometimes jungle. After mile 50 it’s highland, the road is above the clouds….I felt like fly.

Enough for my arrival story…..

Now my practical work. I got at Grasberg Maintenance, from the name the department is located in Grasberg. For you who have not heard about Grasberg, I give clues, Grasberg is 9^oC, foggy, muddy, it’s located in Jayawijaya mountainous. Or if you are still wondering, you should check it by googling.

In Grasberg Maintenance, I got theme how to use software for diagnosing the unit. The work it’s not hard but…..you can read about my story about what I got in Freeport in this blog too.

It’s time to go home, I got 2 weeks before I back to Yogya (exactly 31 Okt). I should prepare all administration including ticket.
